Our Quality Standards

Both certified and non-certified brands can become members in NOC Sweden. When certified, it needs to be one of the approved certifications. These certifications are considered being in line with what can be classified as natural organic cosmetics.

If a brand is not certified, the below criteria apply. The criterias can also serve as a guide on what a natural organic cosmetic product should contain, and perhaps first and foremost, not contain.

The most basic criteria for a natural organic cosmetic product is that it should be produced with natural and preferably organic raw material and also minimally processed.

Certification bodies, such as Ecocert and Natrue, build their practices by in detail pinpointing what this means and also they have different views on what should and what should not be in cosmetic products. NOC Sweden is not a certification body, but we strive of course to make sure our members are brands that are natural and organic. For this reason, we have produced a black and a red list. If an applying brand have products containing ingredients from the black list, this must be stated at the time of the application and the board will make a decision concerning membership. In order to be approved despite having an ingredient from the black list, the use of the ingredient cannot be frequent. In addition, it can also depend on what specific substance is used and also the type of product it is used in. Based on the information provided, the board will make a decision.

This means, NOC Sweden cannot guarantee that all products from all brands are completely free from ingredients from the black list. However, most member brands have no ingredients from the black list and in any case these ingredients are minimally occuring. (more details on each substance can so far only be found on the Swedish version of the site)
